2004-10-07 - 6:52 p.m. Employing the kind of logic that election-year manuevering brings out, Vice President Dick Cheney says that a report by the chief U.S. weapons inspector, which concluded that Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction and was, in fact, getting weaker, more than justified America's invasion of Iraq. Cheney's rationale: Saddam was angling to get international sanctions lifted. Having achieved that, he would then begin a weapons program. How the vice president was able to read the dictator's mind was not explained. � |
