2004-06-10 - 10:34 a.m. -- Tony Long for wired.com The narrow, winding streets of Paris are ill-suited for accommodating that American wet dream, the SUV. So the leftist city council has passed a resolution that, if approved, would banish sports utility vehicles from Paris altogether. Describing the SUV as a "caricature of a car," Deputy Mayor Denis Baupin added, "We have no interest in having SUVs in the city. They're dangerous to others and take up too much space." Pedestrians in car-choked American cities like New York, San Francisco and Boston can see Baupin's logic. Folks in Sioux Falls may have a tougher time with it. |
